Fruits Basket has changed my life in ways I can’t even explain. It has probably saved me in a time when my world was falling apart. And to honor it, I am getting a tattoo on my leg today. The photo is the tattoo I’m getting! I don’t think I would be the same person I am today without the cat, the rat, and the onigiri :) The quote reminds me that, no matter what happens or what goes wrong, you always repeat the good and the bad, and “pile on the years”. 

“I really love how in the manga, random bystanders and even animals are making little comments of the happenings. Like some people turning and blushing when Yuki and Machi hug, or ponies begging for food. It’s a really nice detail.”

“I can’t stand the Fruits Basket anime. It doesn’t even begin to show the beautful and heartbreaking moments depicted in the manga. Plus, the fact that they left out Rin and Kureno upsets me. Their stories deserve to be told too.”

“I absolutely adore the pairing of Machi/Yuki. They connected with me on a personal level, at a time in my life where I was really sad and unhappy with myself as a person. When Yuki and Machi became a couple, it made me hopeful that I could meet someone who I love and loves me as much as they love each other.”

“I think out of all the characters, Akito had the saddest storyline. Think about it! Yes a lot of the other characters had abusive parents that were bad to them them like Kyo and Rin but Akito was the only character who’s mother actually outright hated her personally! None of the other character’s parents hated them personally, for example Kyo’s father just rejected him because he believed he was the cause of his mother dying, Ren though was jealous of Akito and hated her from birth that’s so sad”

“I was honestly afraid that Yuki would end up with Tohru, all the way to the last few chapters. I love Kyo and I was afraid that he would always be alone. The ending made me super happy.”

“No matter how many times I read Yuki’s backstory (where he returns Tohru’s hat) I always end up crying. Especially when he transforms back into a rat and is crying because he’s so grateful he could be helpful to someone. It’s one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen in an anime or manga series.”

Though Fruits Basket has many parents that are terrible, there are also some amazing parents, like Hiro’s mother and Kyoko Honda, and parental figures like Kazuma Sohma.
